“Why are you running for City Council?”
Why do people seek a full-time job that pays less than $7,000 a year? There are a lot of reasons, but what is the right reason?
I submit that it is a servant’s heart that properly drives a person to public office. To be a councilor is not a reward or a mark of distinction. To be a councilor is to serve. We need those willing and able to serve. To discern a candidate’s motivation you should parse their resume for a commitment to service. My record will reveal that I love this city and serve all its citizens. Moreover, I have served, and will continue to serve, all my constituents, in a full-time capacity. I have the passion and energy to provide the collaborative leadership needed to make Colorado Springs the destination of choice for businesses, families, and visitors. Jill Gaebler
I am running for city council because like you, I love Colorado Springs, and I believe we need collaborative leaders with energy, integrity, and innovative ideas, to propel our city forward and out of the status quo, toward becoming a world-class city.
We need thoughtful leadership and a coalition-building council, as we work to solve the many critical issues facing our city and to promote a positive and inclusive climate that attracts business, families, and tourists. I believe my experience and collaborative spirit, along with a true passion for our community -- are what’s needed to promote this vision.
